Research That Serves Somalia and Beyond

One of GHU’s core objectives is to undertake basic and applied research by staff and students that addresses national, regional, and global priorities. Findings are published in peer-reviewed journals and other recognised academic avenues contributing to knowledge and to Somalia’s development.

Peer-Reviewed Journals

GHU research findings are submitted to and published in peer-reviewed academic journals — meeting internationally recognised standards of rigour and quality.

National & Regional Focus

Research topics are chosen to address challenges that matter to Somalia, the Horn of Africa, and beyond — from public health and governance to agriculture, security, and technology.

Staff & Student Research

Research is conducted by both GHU academic staff and students — embedding a culture of inquiry at every level of the university, from undergraduate projects to doctoral dissertations.
