Students
Campus Life at GHU
GHU is more than a place to study; it is a community. A place where Islamic values, academic ambition, and a shared commitment to Somalia’s future bring students together across four campuses.
A Community, Not Just a Campus
Life at GHU Is Built Around You
At GHU, campus life is shaped by Islamic values, academic ambition, and a genuine sense of community. From the moment you enroll, you join a network of students, lecturers, and alumni who are all committed to the same vision: rebuilding Somalia through education.
Whether you are attending lectures in Mogadishu, studying in the library in Garowe, or taking part in student activities in Beledweyne the GHU experience is one of purpose, fellowship, and growth.
Faith and scholarship are not separate at GHU. Spiritual development is part of the campus experience — not an afterthought.
Students from Mogadishu, Beledweyne, Garowe, Qardho, and beyond — sharing classrooms, ideas, and ambitions.
GHU students come with a purpose — to gain skills, earn a recognised qualification, and contribute to Somalia’s recovery. The campus reflects that focus.
Learning Facilities
Everything You Need to Study Well

Thousands of digital academic texts are accessible online available to all GHU students across all four campuses at any time.

A comprehensive hard-copy academic collection is housed at the main library, a quiet, dedicated space for deep study and research.

Equipped with health-related resources and clinical facilities for health science students to practice and prepare for real-world environments.

Fully equipped computer labs plus high-speed wireless internet across every GHU campus so students can research, collaborate, and learn without limits.
Student Union
The GHU Student Union — Your Voice on Campus
The GHU Student Union is a fully independent body with its own governance structure and administration. It exists to represent students, organise meetings between the student body and university leadership, and provide welfare and financial support to students from low-income households who cannot afford tuition.
The Union is your independent voice — engaging with university leadership on your behalf and ensuring student concerns are heard and addressed.
The Union actively supports students facing financial hardship — providing welfare assistance and helping those who cannot afford tuition to stay enrolled and continue their studies.
The GHU Student Union organises meetings with students from other universities — broadening networks, sharing ideas, and building connections that go beyond the GHU campus.
